so this soup is easily one of my favorites.... it is easy to make, it smells divine and taste just as good when done right... and as a bonus it is really easy to change it toward what you are keeping around the house.. anywho lets go look at some ingredients
for one person you would need around
100g Chicken
5-7 Tiger prawns, cleaned up
50g Onions, chopped
1-2 Cloves of garlic, finely chopped
100g Mushrooms
150g Carrots, diced
50g Water chestnuts, sliced
1tsp Green curry paste
4dl Chicken stock
165 ml Coconut milk
The green of one spring onion
Cooking oil
Lime juice
Ouster sauce or Fish sauce
Salt and Pepper
well that was the easy part... now for the cooking part...
chicken is cut out in dices and scorched in a pot with onion and garlic (this is the first time we need some of that oil) when the surface is closed ad the curry paste and give it some heat while stirring it around.
add the coconut milk and the chicken stock and bring to a boil.
meanwhile saute the clean and slightly chopped mushrooms and water chestnuts in a pan. Preferable separately. When given some color add to the soup
lastly ad the carrots and the prawns after about a couple of minutes (given how finely diced the carrots are) the soup is basically done..
season with lime juice, fish sauce and salt and pepper.
serve in a bowl and sprinkle with spring onion and serve some good bread on the side....
well that is how simple it is... and trust me it is so good.. if you like it more spiced you can add chili and more garlic and even a little bit of ginger. Also to enhance the flavors try adding just a tiny bit off sugar.
anyway that was the first soup of this January.... Enjoy

SilverChild on Diet
oh wow i have been bad at doing this thing.. guess school got in the way.. .anywho let us go and turn a new leaf and call i 2014 (basically because it is just that) so as a lot of people know after new year there is all this flying around with resolutions and fair enough i have practiced the failing of these for some years... as late as yesterday i found one from January 2013 that had failed well miserably since instead of loosing weight i have actually gain quite a bit the last year... and sure enough this year comes up with a similar resolution... I want to be healthy... this year however there is a catch.. other than i really really wanna get rid of that belly i have put in the last year, am tired of always being sick, having a really odd kinda hiccup and being in pain for a huge amount of my time.... i have to loose some weight so that i can go flying for my summer vacation... oh yeah and i have actually started before the start off 2014 even though i have had my share of the Christmas food too..
so is it gonna go better this year when i have failed all the others? oh dang i hope so... i am so tired of my life being this way that it just have to change... i mean wheres the fun in being able to do so little? so here i am gonna crank up the amount of exercise and just in general eat healthy... get my vitamins you know... even though i do tend to be great at getting them as it is...
and then we are at the beginning of it all with sadly not shocking 110kg i am ready to rumble my way through January on mainly soup.. why because i like soup and it is healthy and in season and so on... and i will try and write more.. recipes, small jokes, the process of it all..
so to the people that might read this i hope you will enjoy the ride and lets hope those kg will melt away ;)

Show me your breakfast...
I have tried more than once to lose weight... i have been over weighted since i was in my early teens and ever since been sad about the fact... but also had a hard time figuring out how to be on diet with my my chaos of a life.. 2 years ago i had a really bad headache and was told that the only way to get rid of it was to lose weight.. i lost the headache but not the weight... anyway as part of the treatment i was told to log everything i eat... the result was that well i actually have a very varied diet... which is all yeah me..
so yeah well... speaking of writing one self into a corner...
Pancakes for breakfast.. weee!
i actually love pancakes even though i don't eat them all to often... thing with them not being all that healthy and what not... but sometimes is alright...
so here we go.. Rye Banana Pancakes
oh and not really an amount list but usually it's 1 egg to 1 dl sugar 3-4 dl flour 1dl milk...
sugar
rye flour
regular flour
salt
milk
oil (neutral)
banana
whisk eggs lightly with sugar, add the rest of the stuff except the bananas and whisk it together. smash those lovely bananas and add them to the mix... only thing left is to bake the goodies on a hot pan
i gave the pancakes the company peanutbutter and some with Nutella.. just yummy :)
oh and yeah i could use the recipe in the title but hey where's the fun in that ;)

first meal almost on time...
oh right i actually have to write this thing to.... so this week i was supposed to be working nights which meant i wanted to make a breakfast piece.. but ehm yeah i ended up working mornings instead and the whole deal went well sideways.. so instead of making the intended brunch like meal i made it a dinner instead...
well here goes... i don't really go for all that conventional stuff for breakfast.. i do sometimes eat my oatmeal but i like mixing it up to.. who says you can't have anything you want for breakfast..?
so here we go.. i really love shrimps and i really really love shrimp salad... thing is though shrimps are kinda expensive so i mostly by them as a special treat.. also shrimp salad.. with all that mayo isn't that healthy.. but it is just so good.. anywho.. doing my vacation i had a croissant with that really fattening shrimp salad.. it was really good btw.. but i couldn't help wondering if it was possible to make a healthier version..
my take on that was to go with a green salad mixed with the shrimps and dressing... originally i wanted eggs in it to but i forgot tho buy those XD
ingredients for one...
a croissant
shrimps
iceberg
cucumber
lowfat cream fraiche (some sour stuff.. you can use yogurt instead)
a tiny bit of mayo (which can be dropped but i wouldn't really recommend it)
dried dill
salt and pepper
lime or lemon
very little sugar
looking at that you might notice that first of i don't use amounts.. well thing is food isn't about amounts but about taste.. for reference though for my evening meal i used a quarter of a small iceberg and like a third of a cucumber and i had a small portion of leftovers... also you might have noticed both the mayo and the sugar.. it's all about the taste and you don't need much... and really we shouldn't be so damn scared of using fat and sugar we do after all need a little bit of the stuff to survive..
anyway... cucumber is chopped into small dices while iceberg is cut really fine... mix cream fraiche and mayo in amounts where starts tasting less sour. Ad salt to help get the taste right.. press lime or lemon into the dressing and ad a very small amount of sugar to help the taste jump out.. ad the dill and just taste taste taste until it is well seasoned... ad the salad, cucumber and dried of shrimps and mix...
cut open your croissant and fill it with the salad... and voila you got a small meal hopefully looking a bit like this
so there we go first meal on this post.. hope you can use it.. to be honest i feel like i'm really crappy at writing recipes and stuff like this.. but hey what's the harm in trying..

the beginning of it all
So Wednesday morning my best friend jumped on a plane (yes i decided that he jumped on it) going to Australia for 4½ month taking his 9th semester there... i of cause is all happy for him.. thinking it will be a great experience and all.. but dang i'm gonna miss that boy.. he called me Thursday on viper to check that it was working and i, the slightly neurotic girl, who generally just hate talking on the phone literally did not want to hang up... he has been gone 3 days now and i still have no clue how i'm gonna survive this thing..
oh yeah lets get pleasantries over with first.... like my other blog i wanna connect this one to Bloglovin so go Follow my blog with Bloglovin...goodie we got that out of the way there..
so one of the things me and my buddy have always done is cooking together.. actually this is how we became friends in the first place.. we were chatting together one night and he told me that he couldn't cook.. i said it was rubbish because he just had to learn.. cooking is very easy for me because i love it and it just comes naturally i haven't really followed recipes for years when just cooking for my self.. i do use them sometimes when trying new stuff though... anyway we decided to meet up the next day and cook together and then watch a movie.. i believe the deal was i should teach him to cook and he would teach me to watch horror movies... don't really know how the last part is going but have an idea that i'm a hopeless case ;)
i know that while he is gone i am so gonna miss hanging out with him making food and watching movies while arguing that i am a lousy pillow.. told my dad i was gonna miss my friend and he just laughed at me and said no kidding we would never have guessed...
so i though long and hard about what i'm gonna do.. because i think i'm gonna annoy my other friends if i don't figure something out... and i actually plan on holding on to them... my conclusion has been this.. making a food-blog so at least i can keep that small bit in action while he is gone... what could possible go wrong? well a lot.. but that is gonna be my challenge right... to try and write at least one post a week... and who knows maybe it is gonna be a tradition to keep later on c", )
